Police seized 60 kg of cocaine in a container. Among the three arrested is a former football player


Greek police have arrested three Greek men after a large quantity of cocaine was found in a container in the port of Piraeus. Among those arrested is a famous former football player whom authorities suspect of being the leader of a gang in the country.

According to Cnngreece, a 41-year-old former football player plays a major role in the transportation of large quantities of cocaine. The other two arrested are 31 and 36 years old.

According to authorities, the ex-football player was the leader of the group and maintained contacts with drug importers and traffickers, and also coordinated the collection of cocaine from containers for the purpose of delivering it to the final traffickers.

The drug prosecutor’s office determined that the drugs arrived in containers. Fifty-eight homemade nylon bags wrapped with duct tape containing cocaine were found in the ship’s freezers.

The total weight of cocaine was 66 kg and 700 grams

According to Kathimerini, one of those arrested, a woman, was a private refrigeration equipment operator. Those arrested were tasked with retrieving packages of drugs hidden in the refrigeration units of shipping containers.

As part of the investigation, police installed surveillance systems at the Piraeus container terminal. According to reports, the cocaine was destined for European countries. A total of three people were arrested and six mobile phones, cars and a motorcycle were confiscated.
