Recently, after a sharp rise in prices, theft of olive oil has become more frequent. The latest incident was recorded in Kuveli (Stylida in Phthiotis), where unknown persons stole 200 liters of oil.
According to the local website lamiareport.gr, unknown persons broke into the warehouse and the house, but they were mainly interested in… olive oil, due to the high price of it.
The break-in at the warehouse where the oil was stored appears to have happened on Thursday morning (October 19) while the 79-year-old owner was away. The criminals entered the house and vandalized it. However, the real target was a warehouse from where the attackers stole olive oil.

The thieves even took care to pour the “liquid gold” into the containers they brought with them on the spot using… a hose and a bucket. This shows that they knew what they were looking for.

On top of that, they also stole a chainsaw that was in the warehouse. The incident was reported to AT Stylidas, which took over the preliminary investigation.
