Hundreds of bodies are waiting to be identified in special refrigerator boxes, tells BB.LV October 16. We need to obtain x-rays of the teeth of the missing persons. If you are familiar with such doctors, please convey to them a request to urgently contact us.”

Identification of military personnel is carried out separately from civilians. The soldier’s personnel files contain information for him, so the process is less complicated. A source familiar with the process says about contacting dentists:

“This is a joint request from the body identification unit and the police. Most of the bodies of military personnel have already been identified. But among the civilians there are many who have not been identified. Often the police have no idea who they are talking about. Unidentified bodies are now undergoing a CT scan of the oral cavity , which can be compared with dental X-rays available in citizens’ medical records and matches can be found. Sometimes this is the only possibility of identification. From our point of view, identification should always be based on biometric parameters, since they are unambiguous. You can also use fingerprints or DNA samples, as well as external signs, including tattoos and dental features. If a body is badly burned, the teeth are the only clue as to its identity.”

We work in a completely unimaginable environment, but we really hope that this will not affect the condition of workers.”

Another volunteer of the identification center, Benny Schechter, said publication “News of Israel”:

“All night long you are transporting bodies, raising burnt children. There are 51 headless children lying here. If there is something small in a large bag, it is the body of a child. The bags are designed for an adult, but there is a child in there. Sometimes only part of the body. They fired grenade launchers at houses, the bodies were hanging on the trees. In one house they found the corpses of 20 men. I am an adult, I am already 60 years old, but I can’t stand it mentally. You lift another bag and see that it is a child. There are people here who carried the body of a child, and there was a head lying next to it.”

Groups of volunteers work around the clock to the limit of their capabilities, moral and physical.
