According to Theocharis Michaelides, board member of the Association of Short-Term Rental Companies, Israelis are active in booking accommodations on Airbnb.
Families with small children arrive who do not yet know how long they will stay in Greece, Mr. Michaelides told ERT. According to him, the Israelis requested a list of houses with 3-4 bedrooms.
According to the expert: “October for Athens, and even the period until mid-November, is quite a “high season.” Residents of Israel approached us with the question of whether we could accommodate them during the period of hostilities in their homeland.
We, in turn, are faced with a problem because we do not have as many houses as we would like to provide to the citizens of Israel. Because they want big houses anyway, with 3 and 4 bedrooms. There are practically no such things in Athens, only 5% of houses.”
When asked if they were also looking for houses on the islands, an Airbnb representative stressed: “Since we are very active in Paros and there is a large number of Israelis living there, I offered them a list of houses. These are large and comfortable houses, you can spend the winter in them and, of course, they are much cheaper, because if the other person does not know how long he will stay, it is easier to stay there somewhere cheap than to be in Athens and pay twice as much.”
