“We were saved at the last moment,” says Father Panteleimon, who returned with a group of Greek pilgrims from Bethlehem.
They were returning under fire, Father Panteleimon spoke about the moments of horror experienced during military operations in Israel after attacks Hamas:
“We were saved at the last moment. When we left Bethlehem and were heading to the airport in Jerusalem, anti-aircraft fire suddenly started, we were terrified. If we had not crossed the border, we would have been stuck. When we got to the airport, they barely let us through “We were told that we had one minute to enter the airport shelters. When the alarm ended, passengers began to get out from everywhere. Everyone was confused. When we boarded the plane, we became even more scared. The Israelis did not allow the Israelis to board the plane.” .
According to Father Panteleimon, one group of pilgrims is stuck in Jericho, the other is in a hotel in Bethlehem. Fortunately, two more groups flew to Cairo, writes CNN Greece.
