A 22-year-old British tourist was found dead in an alley in the Kavos area of Corfu on Friday morning. The tourist served in the London police and rested on an island in the Ionian Sea with a colleague.
The body was found by a passerby. Immediately after his discovery, an ambulance arrived at the scene with rescuers, security and forensic teams, investigators and a forensic expert.
Citing police sources, a local publication kerkyrasimera reported that the police appeared to be ruling out the crime scenario, explaining the death as an accident.
It is reported that as a result of the fall, a young woman received a head injury. She bled to death and remained unconscious for several hours on a side street of the main road until passers-by noticed her on Friday morning. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death of the British policeman.
According to media reports, the 22-year-old girl was a London police officer and it was only the first day of her vacation on the island with a friend and colleague, also from the London police. In the evening they went together to have fun. At some point, her friend left first and returned to the hotel alone.
The Corfu police are still investigating.
