Thousands of drivers and passengers were stuck in a hours-long traffic jam on the Athens-Korinth highway, experiencing incredible suffering due to an accident that occurred shortly after 12 noon at the height of Kakija Skala, when a tank car with 7 tons of LNG caught fire.
Since 12:20 noon, the national highway has been closed, leaving thousands of vehicles blocked and immobilized, forming kilometer-long queues between Agii Theodori and Megara, on both the new and the old national highway.
The strip to Athens opened at 8pm
Shortly before 8 pm the old national road was opened again, and half an hour later the flow to Athens was opened via the new national road.
