An 11-year-old child drowned on the island of Furnos. His mother had been looking for him since noon, at 6:30 p.m. reporting him missing to the authorities.
Police and Coast Guard officers immediately began searching for the boy after receiving the signal. Unfortunately, they ended tragically: the child was found dead.
At 8:30 p.m., a passer-by noticed the child’s body. He was taken to the Fourni rural hospital, where doctors pronounced the boy dead. According to the results of the preliminary investigation, he became entangled in the nets while swimming and could not rise to the surface of the sea.
