Three thousand reservists will be sent to Europe, Biden gave "good"

The Pentagon received US President Joe Biden’s approval Thursday to send 3,000 reservists to Europe as the war in Ukraine continues.

There are currently more than 100,000 US military personnel in Europe,writes CNN, their number has increased since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Under a recently signed US executive order, the reservists will participate in Operation Atlantic Resolve, a rotational deployment that bolsters NATO’s eastern flank. The document defines it as an emergency operation, which provides reservists with the same benefits as conscripts.

Lieutenant General Douglas Sims, director of operations for the Joint Staff, notes that this designation “benefits military personnel and families by increasing authority, rights and access to reserve forces and personnel.” It also allows the Pentagon to send more forces and resources to help the US European Command.

It is assumed that additional troops will work in the field of logistics and support or in the medical fields.
