Impressive shots from the Rio Antirio bridge: climbers on ropes

Today, Tuesday, on the Rio Antirio bridge, work began on the inspection and maintenance of cables and the outer surfaces of the pylons as part of a regular procedure.

For this reason, a group of seven highly qualified climbers come from France every summer to carry out this work. As you know, highly qualified personnel are involved in the implementation of complex technical actions and checks.

It is expected that the work of the group of climbers will be completed by early August. During them, traffic on the bridge is carried out as usual.

GEFYRA, the concessionaire of the Rio-Antirrio link, today released impressive photos of seven climbers at work.

Rio Antirio is a cable-stayed bridge across the Gulf of Corinth, connecting the city of Rio on the Peloponnese peninsula with the city of Antirio on the other side of the bay. It opened on August 7, 2004.
The bridge is an achievement of high engineering thought. Popular science films are made about him. The fact is that the place here for the bridge is not very suitable. Firstly, strong winds, and secondly, an unstable bottom.

The Peloponnese is gradually moving away from the mainland, at a rate of 35 mm per year. This was taken into account in the project and implemented during construction. The length of the bridge is 2880 meters. The fare is paid, the price is 12.9 euros.
