Protect windows from thieves and robbers: 7 easy ways

Not only bars – to increase the security of your home, there are many other ways to help securely close windows for burglars.

According to statistics, most burglars enter the house through the front door, so we all pay special attention to protecting them. But even an armored door will not save you from dangerous “guests” who can enter through the window. Most residents, especially on the first floor, choose the time-tested method – gratings. This is an effective method, but there are no less effective ones – you just have to choose or combine.

window alarm

The window alarm, a simple and inexpensive device, offers two main advantages: it acts as a deterrent and helps to quickly detect possible break-in of the window structure.

Most devices consist of a sensor and a magnet. If these two components move away from each other when the window is opened, an alarm sounds. The model, among the many offered on the market, can be selected in accordance with financial capabilities. Install alarm devices on all windows and make sure the lock on the window is secure.

Window security locks

A conventional lock is unlikely to scare off burglars, so windows should be equipped with a reliable secondary locking device. Among the many solutions on the market, choose the one designed for safety (and not just for the safety of children). It is important that for some types you do not have to drill wood or aluminum at all – the choice is entirely yours.

Protective films prevent glass from breaking

Not all burglars try to break window glass for fear of noise. And yet such cases are not uncommon – you can stick your hand through the broken glass and open the window to get inside. A good quality protective film is visually almost invisible, and protects the glass quite reliably. Breaking, of course, is possible, but for this the criminals will have to try very hard – to inflict multiple strong blows for a long time. Usually, faced with such an obstacle, thieves prefer to retreat to “another object”, more accessible.

Motion detectors

In some ways, motion detectors can be compared with an alarm – this is not a barrier for thieves, but they warn the owners of the house in time about the presence of strangers and act as deterrents. While motion sensors should not be used as the first line of defense, they can be very useful if someone breaks into your windows. A loud alarm will alert you right away, and there’s a good chance the burglars will simply give up on their attempt.

Protective glass

Protective glass is an excellent means of protecting windows, which almost guarantees that it will not be possible to break them. But there is one minus – their cost is high and not available to everyone. Although there are various options offered, so it’s worth asking the price. But if the budget is limited, choose a better protective film.

security cameras

Video cameras are an obvious precaution. But the same minus – not everyone can afford it. There is one useful recommendation: place “virtual” cameras that will make would-be burglars move away or at least think. By no means, however, should you use them solely for the safety of your home.

“Sustainable Choice”

If space permits, plant thorny bushes under the windows. “Cheap and cheerful”, as they say. This will make it more difficult for criminals to access the window, but in the case of repairing or washing the outside of window structures, access will be difficult for you, and this is a minus. Although consider this option, offers newsbeast.gr.
