Attica: the best beaches for families with children

Sun, sea, games… That’s probably all you think about when you’re about to spend a day at the beach. Some are located closer to the city, others further away, the beaches of Attica are endless and “for every taste.”

For those who have children and the family is going to the sea, it is better to first find out about the places that are most suitable for this. Avlaki, Porto Rafti (Αυλάκι, Πόρτο Ράφτη)

It is a fairly shallow and sandy beach where your children can play safely. Avlaki is located less than 40 kilometers from the center of Athens and has clear blue waters. It has clear shallow water with fine sand and is not crowded. There is a beach bar here. Nearby you will find taverns and you can also visit the Temple of Poseidon.

Schinas (Σχοινιάς)
Not one, not two, but almost 5 kilometers is the beach of Schinas, which is suitable for small children, as, among other things, it has infrastructure such as sunbeds, umbrellas, WC, showers and changing rooms. Here you can also set up your own umbrella and enjoy playing with the ball and rackets. The beach has a “quiet” area, located after the noisy central place, Karavi, which has a dense shade from relic pines.

Psapha (Ψάθα)

The beach is located an hour from Athens, but the scenery spread out in front of you definitely compensates for the drive. The bay of Psatha has a wonderful beach with colorful pebbles, deep blue waters, thick pine forests all around and is a little paradise in Attica where you can let your kids run and play. The beach is not equipped, but in front of the beach there are many cafes, taverns and eateries (Ouzeri).

Coast of Vouliagmeni (Ακτή Βουλιαγμένης)
If you still don’t want to spend a lot of time in the car, Vouliagmeni Beach, which is open all year round, is the perfect choice.
