Weather in Greece: showers and possible floods from tomorrow, 37-degree heat next Sunday

Attack of bad weather and counterattack of summer heat – this is the expected weather in the coming days, according to the forecast of meteorologist Clearchos Marousakis.

On his website marousakis.gr, he draws attention to changes in weather conditions from tomorrow:

“A change from previous erratic weather days will be that from tomorrow until early next week we will be under the influence of organized bad weather, and what could that mean practically?”

He answers the rhetorical question himself. Showers, thunderstorms and overcast throughout Thursday 15 June. Contrary to the fact that bad weather usually “looks around” in the afternoon, tomorrow you can expect its aggression at any time, while thunderstorms and showers are possible throughout the country.

In the past few days, unstable weather has been observed mainly in continental areas. Now it will even affect the sea and coastal areas, so problems are also expected on the islands.

Bad weather will come from Italy, bringing with it large amounts of precipitation. Mathematical calculations show the volume of water, which at the local level can approach or even exceed 50 tons of water per hectare. This is the amount of water that, if it falls in a short period of time, is very likely to cause floods.

And after this wave of bad weather that will “spoil” the coming weekend, summer seems to be preparing a powerful attack not only on Greece, but on the Mediterranean as a whole. Very warm air masses from the coast of North Africa are expected to move east/northeast next week and reach our country by the middle of next week.

This will result in 35-37°C expected in some regions on Sunday for the upcoming elections, with weather instability limited to high mountains.
