Greece’s online platform for the Energy Saving at Home subsidy program was launched on Monday 12 June and will accept applications until 15 September 2023.
It is estimated that around 20,000 households will participate in the program and the budget is 300 million euros. Of this allocation, €60 million is specifically earmarked to help vulnerable households fight energy poverty.
The program offers various investment support rates, from 40% to 75%, depending on household income. The rest of the investment costs can be financed by a loan with a subsidized interest rate.
Eligible program interventions include the following:
- Replacement of doors and windows.
- Installation or modernization of thermal insulation.
- Modernization of heating and cooling systems.
- Implementation of hot water supply systems using renewable energy sources.
- Other energy saving measures such as a smart home control system.
For each residential building, whether it is a separate house or an apartment, the intervention must lead to an increase in at least three categories of energy consumption. In the case of a comprehensive reconstruction, the modernization should reach at least category B. This requirement ensures primary energy savings of more than 30%.
