In Volos, a 44-year-old woman gave heroin to her son, who was in a detention center.
The compassionate mother, acting as a drug courier, explains: “I did not want my child to suffer.” She explained to the police that she was trying to save her son from withdrawal symptoms.
A 20-year-old boy has been arrested for theft. His interrogation was scheduled for Thursday – he faces charges of a serious crime with aggravating circumstances, committed repeatedly. His mother, with whom he kept in touch by telephone, agreed the day before yesterday to hand over heroin to his holding cell “so that he wouldn’t get hurt.”
Yesterday, after admitting his guilt, the young man was released on parole. However, his mother is now in custody. She, too, faces a felony charge of delivering drugs to a detention center. The woman asked for a time limit to confess her guilt today and received it. With tears in her eyes she says:
“I wanted to help him. My child steals to improve his health, we live in an intolerable situation.”
Meanwhile, the prosecutor’s office ordered a toxicological and psychiatric examination of the guy. Its purpose is to place a drug-addicted young man under supervision in a closed rehabilitation program with the approval of the prosecutor. A guy with a criminal past committed several thefts a few days ago – within 12 hours he robbed a bakery, a motorcycle and a cafe, from which he took out tablets and mobile phones. Three more theft cases have been pending against him since last March, writes newsbreak.gr.
