Greek islands that attract Italians with their “unsolved mysteries”

According to the popular website thewom.it, the Lesser Cyclades are at the top of the new list of the most valuable “unknown treasures” of Greece for Italian travelers.

The site encourages millions of its readers to escape from the mundane and explore the uncharted islands of Greece with its “Mediterranean oases, stories of pirates, gods and mermaids, and territories where myths and legends still survive (and come true).”

First on the list among the thirteen “hidden gems” of the Aegean is Donussa (Δονούσα), “a place where life proceeds at a “turtle pace”, and where the myth of Ariadne and Theseus still lives.” Caves in the sea, paths, narrow streets and villages that have remained untouched by the passage of time will leave a unique impression in your memory.”

Second and third on the list are: Koufonisi, two wonderful islands facing each other in the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea.
“In the post-COVID era, Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades in general are constantly gaining popularity abroad. A new authentic and unexplored tourism destination will be a trend for the coming years,” said Vangelis Katsaras, Deputy Mayor for Tourism of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades.
