The Greek police seized over 100 kg of cocaine and over 100,000 euros in cash. The drugs arrived at the port of Thessaloniki on a cargo ship from Latin America.
According to police, nine people have been detained so far, among them, presumably, one of the regional leaders of the drug business. As the police operation continues, more arrests will reportedly be made.
The police operation was launched after receiving information that the drugs were on a specific cargo ship in the port of the city in northern Greece. Drug dealers loaded drugs into several cars they rented. They were caught while moving in the Dyawata area.
Apparently, the cargo ship arrived in Thessaloniki through the port of the city from one of the countries of Latin America. This is not the first time that drugs from Latin America have entered the port of Thessaloniki or Piraeus, as drug traffickers appear to be using Greek ports to smuggle them to Europe.
