Rescue operation completed in Uman from an apartment building destroyed by a rocket

The search and rescue operation at the site of the Russian strike on a high-rise building in the Ukrainian city of Uman has been completed. 23 people were killed, including 6 children, 9 people were injured, 17 were rescued.

According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko on Facebook, of the 23 dead, 22 bodies were taken out of the rubble, one person died in the hospital. Among the dead were six children: three boys (one and a half, 16 and 17 years old) and three girls (8, 11 and 14 years old).

All bodies have been identified. In a specially organized headquarters, relatives of the victims could submit biological samples for DNA comparison. Two women are considered missing. The Minister noted:

“All services worked smoothly and efficiently. Thanks to the rescuers, policemen, public utilities workers, dozens of Uman residents who joined the demolition of the collapsed house. The work went very quickly, because everyone was in a hurry. Until the last, they hoped to find someone alive under the rubble.”

Yesterday, April 28, in Uman, Cherkasy region, a Russian rocket hit a residential building. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Igor Klimenko, said from the scene that they had hit the house with an X-101 rocket. As a result, a whole entrance collapsed, where 109 residents are registered. 27 apartments were completely destroyed. More than 33 cars near the house burned to the ground or were damaged.
