“Slapping” ND ahead of elections: Poll shows she is losing in Athens Municipality

Kostas Bakoyannis and New Democracy have received a “thumping slap” in Athens, as the current mayor of Athens is 4% behind, according to the first poll since SYRIZA announced its support for mayoral candidate Nikos Pappas.

It is recalled that the elections are scheduled for October next year, while the rival of Nikos Pappas will be the cousin of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the current mayor of the city, Kostas Bakoyannis, who entered the history of the capital of Greece for the situation with the “Big Walk” project, which failed and, in eventually was eliminated.

According to the first poll, Nikos Pappas maintains a 4% lead over Kostas Bakoyannis, which is also confirmed by local publication pronews.gr, which has long emphasized that ND lost to Athens.

The poll was conducted by self-government website aftodioikisi.gr from 4 to 8 April on a sample of 1,033 people and found Nikos Pappas to be 4% (42 to 38) ahead of current mayor Kostas Bakoyannis. As already mentioned, the leadership of the Panathinaikos basketball player over Mr. Bakoyannis is explained by the fact that there is great dissatisfaction among the people of Athens with the current mayor.

As recorded in the January poll, among the voters of the municipality of Athens there is an active dislike towards Bakoyannis (54% in January and today), which is explained by dissatisfaction with the work of the incumbent mayor, which reaches 67% (50% not at all and 17% a little), but also personal dislike for him (17%).

It should also be noted that high percentages were registered with N. Sofianos (CHP) -14%.
