Audrey Hale, 28, became the killer of three adults and three young children at the Covenant School, a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee. She was killed during her arrest.
The victims were Evelyn Dickhouse, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney, aged 8 and 9. The adult victims were identified as Cynthia Peak, 61, Katherine Koons, 60, and Mike Hill, 61. Hale, a local resident, managed to sneak into the school armed with two semi-automatic rifles and a pistol.
Surveillance cameras captured how the criminal fired at the entrance doors of the educational institution, and then climbed over the broken glass planes to get inside. She wears a red cap, camouflage pants and what looks like a safety vest. Hale holds the rifle in one hand while the other hangs on his left hip. The assassin’s Honda Fit is parked outside the school. Once at the school, the shooter wanders through the deserted corridors and at some point passes by a room marked “Children’s Ministry”.
According to police, the suspect opened fire on approaching police vehicles, hitting one of them in the windshield. The shooting was stopped about 14 minutes into the attack, after police broke into the building and shot the suspect.
The killer of 6 people in elementary school turned out to be Audrey Hale, who called herself a transgender man (used pronouns: “he / him”). She worked as a graphic designer and went to the same school as a child. It took her 15 minutes to kill six people, three 9-year-olds and three school employees. Then the police eliminated her herself.
After the shooting in Nashville, pickets were held in memory of the six victims, writes Air Force. Mourners gathered at the church to pay their respects to the three young children and Covenant School staff who were killed on Monday. US President Joe Biden ordered the national flags to be flown at half mast:
“In respect to the victims of the senseless acts of violence committed … in Nashville.”
He urged Congress to take action against gun violence. Last year, in an effort to stem the escalation of violence in the US, President Biden passed a landmark gun control bill. He introduced tougher checks on young buyers and called on all states to seize guns from people who were considered a threat.
However, a few months later, the US Supreme Court issued a ruling that could make it harder for states to pass gun restrictions. Over the years, lawmakers have proposed strengthening background checks, passing red flag laws and banning assault weapons in an attempt to curb gun violence in America. But almost every proposal was met with intense resistance.
