A powerful explosion destroyed a grocery store in the metropolitan suburb of Nea Eritrea early Tuesday morning.
The incident took place around 3 am, when two unidentified men on a motorcycle drove up to the store located at the intersection of Venizelou and Strofiliu streets. The attackers smashed the window and threw a high-powered explosive device inside.

The blast shattered glass cases and caused extensive damage to the interior of the deli.
State broadcaster ERT showed shopkeepers sweeping up broken glass from the sidewalk and picking up spilled groceries, while a police explosive ordnance disposal team picked up rubbish in search of the remnants of an explosive device.
It is not yet known why the grocery store became a target of terrorists.
While special police units are investigating the remains of the bomb, the anti-racket police department is looking into whether the explosion could be linked to mafia groups.
It is reported that the owners of the family business told police that they had not received any threats or conflicts with anyone in the past. And although the attackers were wearing closed helmets, dozens of CCTV cameras were installed in the area, which gives the police hope to get a clue about the route of the terrorists, who arrived and fled immediately after the bomb was planted.
