Liquidated "family contract" drug traffickers

It is estimated that in just three months, the members of the criminal gang, which consists mainly of relatives, have earned at least 40,000 euros from the sale of cocaine in Karditsa prefecture, where they have launched their illegal activities since the beginning of December 2022.

The scheme of work of drug traffickers was unraveled after a months-long investigation by the police of Karditsa. As part of a coordinated operation carried out on March 7 simultaneously in the regions of Karditsa and Attica, four Greeks, a Greek woman and a foreigner were arrested. One of the Greeks was the leader of a criminal group. He, along with a relative, took cocaine from a foreigner in the Phthiotis region. The woman was in charge of storing the cocaine, weighing it and packing it into bags ready for sale. The “goods” were handed over to two other Greeks who resold the drugs.

On the morning of Tuesday 7 March, Karditsa police officers stopped the gang leader and his relative at the toll road (diodia) in Sofades as they were returning from Fthiotida. As it became known, earlier they took a package with cocaine weighing 98.6 grams from a foreigner. During the search of the vehicle, 2,075 euros in cash were also found and confiscated.

At the same time, another detachment of police officers arrested a foreigner in Afidnes (Attica), who was seized with three packages of cocaine weighing 1.5 grams, 5,500 euros and six dollars. At the same time, in Karditsa, the police arrested three more members of the drug trafficking spiral.

Subsequent searches with a sniffer dog at the homes of the perpetrators in the Karditsa and Attica regions found another 31 bags of cocaine. In addition, three hunting rifles, five magazines and 549 cartridges of various calibers were found. In addition, ten mobile phones, six vehicles and 16,210 euros in cash were seized.

The detainees were individually prosecuted for the creation of a criminal organization, drug trafficking and violation of the law on weapons. The detainees were taken to the prosecutor’s office of Karditsa. Another 11 people are involved in the case – clients of drug dealers.
