Identification of 57 dead in train collision completed

Today, March 3 at noon, the investigation is expected to conclude at the site of the fatal train crash in Tempi.

According to the latest official figures, the confirmed death toll recovered from the wreckage of the train is 57. Greek police spokesman, police officer β’ Constantia Dimoglidou said that after the accident and the evacuation of passengers and injured, 56 people were officially declared missing. There is a possibility that someone was on the train and was not reported missing by relatives or friends. According to the latest count, there is one more person among the confirmed dead who does not appear to be missing.

According to Ms. Dimoglidu, all the bodies have been identified by DNA. She clarified ΑΠΕ-ΜΠΕthat 55 DNA samples were taken from the bodies, and 52 samples were taken from relatives of the passengers. But besides them, there are many more people who have also been sampled, and it has not yet been clarified whether they belong to one of the already identified or wanted persons, or these are persons who have not been declared missing. This will be clarified when all the studies carried out in the laboratories of the forensic service are completed.

Ms. Dimoglidou noted that 48 passengers remain in hospitals, 6 of them in the intensive care unit, one passenger with serious burns was transferred to the intensive care unit of the Papanicolaou hospital, which has a special burn unit.

Tomorrow, on Saturday, the head of the Larisa station will be released, who faces serious charges. Relatives of the missing persons are overwhelmed with indignation, since after three days the official list of those people who have not yet been identified has not been presented. They excitedly ask for justice for those responsible for the tragedy, writes CNN Greece.
