On Monday afternoon, MAT police forces launched a violent attack on teachers who were protesting outside the Megaro Mushiki Concert Hall in anticipation of the prime minister’s appearance at an Education Ministry event to celebrate the government’s work on education.
Students of theater schools and members of student unions also took part in the protest rally.

The rally of teachers is held on the occasion of the presentation of the legislative work of the Ministry of Education during the term of the government.
“We have gathered here today for a demonstration of teachers, students, artists, special support staff, special pedagogical staff, at Megaro Mousiki, where New Democracy presents 4 years of its work in the field of education. We were attacked twice by MAT: once with a tear teachers were beaten with gas, a second time with batons, one teacher was shot in the eye,” said Dimitra Tassu, president of the Aristotle Association of Primary Education Teachers, to TPP. “We understand very well that this is their policy. a way to “educate” the population. We stay here, we do not leave, we are trying to make our slogans and our reaction to all that they are trying to bring and present as a very good “reform” heard. We are not afraid, we are not scared. We understand that their policy is attacks, beatings and terrorism.”
PS Beating demonstrators is the last thing, but it’s much worse when the police beat teachers or doctors. Indeed, in both the first and second cases, this will be repulsed both by the policemen themselves and their families, and by those in power. Yes, you can be treated in special hospitals, teach children in special schools, but history shows that such a situation, sooner or later, leads to an explosion of popular indignation.
