Milk prices expected to fall

Today, the INKA boycott of dairy products begins as a reaction to the wave of inflation that has swept the market, especially milk, yogurt and cheese.

At the same time, there are rumors about a reduction to 0.07 euros per kilogram of the producer price of sheep and, possibly, goat milk. At the same time, the indignation of breeders who do not want to allow the price of milk to fall is intensifying.

“What you are doing will lead to the fact that interested persons in this business area will independently reduce the prices of Greek dairy products (possibly they will be imported from abroad) and are looking for every opportunity to do this. Then what will you do?” said Alexandros Kachrimanis, the regional governor of Epirus, head of the agricultural department of the Union of Greek Regions, in a post on social media.

“This is unacceptable. Who are they forbidding to raise prices? An animal breeder who needs to feed his children? Who needs to feed his animals?” asked the vice-president of the Panhellenic Union of Animal Breeders Mirto Likas.

“It’s a shame that INKA is now protesting. But until recently, citizens of the country bought a kilogram of meat for a family of four for three to four euros, that is, less than a cup of coffee,” said Eleftherios Gitsas, president of the National Interprofessional Organization of Butchers (EDOK).

According to the information, the farmers they work with have been told thatthen the milk they will buy in February will be reduced by 4 cents per kilogram. Farmers fear that the price will fall another 3 cents.

Today, the price of sheep’s milk (from the manufacturer, farms) ranges from 1.5-1.6, and in some cases reaches 1.65 euros / kg. The price of goat’s milk is about 1 euro.
