Air pollution in Ioannina has exceeded legal limits for the past 12 days in a row.
Especially high concentrations are recorded in the evening hours (19:00-01:00), and therefore it is recommended to avoid any physical exercise in the open air. The Departments of Environment and Spatial Planning and Ecology and Water Management of Ioannina report the following regarding the worst air pollution: “From the measurements recorded at the air pollution station in Ioannina, in previous days, concentrations of particulate matter (PM10) exceeded the daily average limit of 100 µg/m3 for twelve consecutive days. It is recommended to avoid any outdoor exercise during these hours, especially for people with respiratory or heart disease.
