Dozens of people were injured in the Egyptian capital Cairo as a result of a tribune with people collapsed on the audience.
According to the publication Barrons, which refers to the Egyptian Ministry of Health, at least 30 people were injured, mostly with fractures. The victims are in hospitals, there is no threat to their lives.
According to AP, citing official sources, the incident occurred during the match for the Super Bowl between Al-Ahly of Cairo and Ittihad of Alexandria. There was a crush in the stands, and the sports authorities blamed the fans of the Ittihad team for what had happened. The Egyptian Basketball Federation suspended the match.
As noted in the Egyptian Ministry of Health, 21 ambulances were involved in the evacuation of the victims.
The incident took place at the Hassan Mustafa Sports Complex. It was opened in 2020 and hosts competitions in several sports, including basketball and handball.
