A train full of tanks, armored vehicles and containers with unknown contents bound for Eastern Europe derailed in Alexandroupolis.
The crash happened, writes evros24.gr, early Friday morning at the French Station (Γαλλικού Σταθμού). NATO cargo was delivered to the border lines with Russia in the countries of Eastern Europe – the Balkans and the Baltics. It was recently unloaded at the port of Evros by the American transport ship Endurance on behalf of the US Army. However, the unknown contents of the containers are believed to have been destined for Ukraine.
Cranes and other equipment were sent to the scene to return the train to the rails, as well as police forces. The accident occurred due to the fact that the car, which was moving along the rails at low speed, because of the weight of one of the wheels derailed and tilted to the side.
