Fire in Kolonos: 5-year-old child intubated, his father detained

Two people managed to get out of the apartment. his older brothers, aged 7 and 12, who were taken to the hospital as a precaution and now they are not in danger.

Meanwhile, the police detained the children’s father, who will be taken to the prosecutor’s office today on charges of neglect of minors. The case is under preliminary investigation by AT Kolonos, while a report from the fire brigade on the causes of the fire is expected. However, according to the information available at the moment, a frying pan was forgotten on the stove, and a fire started from there. The father, who was found with two other children near an apartment building, told firefighters that he was resting because he had been working all day. However, information from the police indicates that he was in a state of extreme intoxication.

It all started around 10:00 pm on Sunday, when a fire broke out in an apartment on the second floor on Alkionis Street in Kolonos, where a family with three minor children aged 5, 7 and 12 lives. The fire brigade was immediately called and rushed to put out the fire with the help of 15 firefighters in 5 fire trucks.

Firefighters pulled out a unconscious 5-year-old boy, and his two underage brothers were evacuated from a burning apartment while extinguishing a fire on Alkionis Street in Athens and taken by ambulances. The fire was immediately brought under partial control, 15 firefighters with 5 vehicles are working.


With regard to a 5-year-old child who was unconscious, it is noted that one of the neighbors rushed to his aid first, giving him artificial respiration, until the EKAB ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital. Two other minors were taken to the Agia Sophia Children’s Hospital as a precaution due to possible lung damage from carbon monoxide.
