A fire broke out in an apartment in Metaxourgio on Sunday evening – the youngest of the three children who were there could not be saved.
According to ertnews, a fire broke out Sunday evening in an apartment on the second floor on Alkionis Street in Metaxourgio. At that moment there were three children in the house – 5, 7 and 12 years old – and their father, who fell asleep after returning from work picking olives. He woke up, hearing the calls of his seven-year-old son for help, and saw that the apartment was full of smoke.
Neighbors called the fire brigade, and 15 firefighters in five vehicles arrived at the scene. They managed to cope with the fire quickly, but the youngest of the children died. Before the arrival of the ambulance, one of the neighbors tried to resuscitate him by doing a heart massage, but in vain. The ΕΚΑΒ doctors who arrived took the baby to the ATTICO hospital, and the older children, for preventive purposes, to the Αγία Σοφία hospital.
The father suspects that the fire could have started from a lighter one of the older brothers was playing with on the couch. There is a preliminary investigation, the father gives evidence to the police.
