Applications open for additional 6,500 places for long-term unemployed

According to the announcement of the Public Employment Service (ΔΥΠΑ), as of today, the acceptance of applications for an additional 6,500 places under the employment program for the long-term unemployed aged 55-67, with a total budget of 123 million euros, will begin.

The 10,000-job program was launched in September 2017, but until July 2020, coverage was quite low at no more than 1,500 hires, the announcement notes. The program was strengthened and improved in July 2022, and since then a total of 8,500 positions have been covered.

With an increase of 6,500 positions, the improved program will provide 15,000 jobs. The program involves subjects from a wide spectrum of public administration.
