As Harvard ranks first for the 20th year in a row, American universities remain at the top of the Shanghai rankings released today.
Anglo-Saxon universities, like last year, occupy the top ten positions. Eight American and two British universities are at the top of this world ranking. best higher education institutions 2022which has been compiled since 2003 by the independent organization Shanghai Ranking Consultancy.
Among Greek universities, the National University of Kapodistrias in Athens took 301-400 positions, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – 501-600 positions, the University of Crete – 601-700 positions, the University of Thessaly 801-900 positions.
Harvard again topped the list, ahead of the American Stanford University. This year, another American university, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), came third on the list, sending the UK’s University of Cambridge to fourth.
It is followed by the American universities Berkeley (5th) and Princeton (6th) and then the British University of Oxford (7th).
In total, the top 100 of the Shanghai ranking includes 39 American universities. The first non-Anglo-Saxon educational institution on the list was the French university Paris-Saclay (16th).
The Σανγκάης ranking is based on six criteria, including the number of Nobel Prizes and Fields Prizes (considered the Nobel Prizes in mathematics that its alumni and professors have won), the number of researchers with the most citations, or the number of publications in specialized publications.
This year, more than 2,500 higher education institutions were considered to rank the top 1,000.
