Metropolitan Chrysostom: "The Church will never recognize same-sex marriage – the issue is not closed"

The Metropolitan, who led the fight of the Greek Church against the laws introduced by the rulers, leaves nothing unanswered, while at the same time posing the questions exactly as they are, and as defined by church rules.

He noted that The Greek Church did not change its position. From the very beginning, she opposed the bill because she believes it is contrary to her faith and teachings. His statements underscore the Church's strong stance that recognizes diversity but does not accept the idea of ​​legalizing homosexual relationships.

“The Church has from the very beginning taken a position against this bill in the most noble way. She has declared that she cannot accept it because it is contrary to her identity, her teaching, the content of her faith. The Church cannot change this in any way. At times the Church has done much There are a lot of discoveries, but she cannot make any discounts, and everyone must understand this. The Church cannot offer dishes from the menu every time. Talking about clergy incitement to attacks on politicians, Metropolitan of Messinia made a distinction between personal opinion and the official position of the Church.

While acknowledging freedom of speech, he emphasizes that these personal positions are not the official position of the Church. “This may be the personal position of a priest or cleric. This is not the position of the official Church,” – said His Eminence.
