Port authorities have arrested three young men for stealing items from a tourist’s luggage on board the ferry. The thieves were arrested in the port of Rafina and on the island of Syros.
According to a statement released by the Greek Coast Guard on Wednesday, two men aged 22 and 21 were arrested for theft in the port of Rafina and one accomplice aged 25 on the island of Syros. Law enforcement agencies found valuables, money, personal belongings and telephones, which were identified by the owner of the stolen luggage.
The luggage belongs to a tourist who boarded a ferry on the island of Tinos. It is reported that later she realized that she was obviously missing some things and immediately contacted the port authorities when the ferry arrived at the port of Rafina in East Attica.
According to ANT1 TV , the thieves “took away” a suitcase with clothes and cosmetics, as well as 487 euros, jewelry and an expensive mobile phone. Authorities are now investigating whether the three men stole more luggage from other tourists aboard the ferry.
