Tuna weighing 390 kg was caught in the Ionian Sea

One of the biggest fish caught in Greece in the last decade was caught by professional fishermen in the Ionian Sea.

In an interview with reporters, a fish trader at the market, Renty, stressed that the demand for tuna in Asian countries is very high, but due to the coronavirus it is very difficult to transport it, so the fish will be sent to the European market.

As you know, bluefin tuna has red meat, unlike other fish, for which it is valued by restaurateurs and gourmets around the world. The weight of the fish can reach 600 kg.

Tuna is fished in all the world’s seas, leaving several species on the verge of extinction, especially redfin tuna, the largest species. The fish is considered a delicacy in Japan, where it is eaten raw as sushi. In the Mediterranean, fishing is usually done with nets.

Sometimes netted tuna are fed to a fishing farm to be grown to a record size and then sold at a profit.
