8 Rubicon anarchists arrested for attacking Attica Odos building

Greek police said Tuesday about eight members of the anarchist group Rubicon, who were detained in connection with the attack on the building of Attica Odos. Early in the morning, anarchists smashed the entrance and the company’s cars on Mesogion Avenue with sledgehammers.

“Eight people were detained and subsequently arrested on Mesogion Avenue in the area of ​​Agia Paraskevi early this morning because they caused unprovoked damage to objects and vehicles of Attika Odos in the area of ​​Koropi,” the police said in a statement.

Earlier, in a media release on the website, the Rubicon group claimed responsibility for an attack in which a group of men damaged offices and cars belonging to Attika Odos at exit 4 of the Koropi motorway.

In separate incidents, also on Tuesday morning, the homes of a private morning television show host and a police union member were attacked.

In footage from a security camera that captured attack on a journalist’s house Dimitris Kambourakis, a hooded and masked man is seen planting an explosive device made from small kitchen gas cylinders near the entrance of an apartment building in the quiet southern suburb of Argyroupoli around 2:30 am.

Around the same time, a similar homemade bomb exploded in the central Athens district of Kypseli, near the home of the president of the police guards union, Vassilis Dumas.

In both cases, the damage was limited to building entrances.
