Dozens of gas tankers heading from the US to Europe

Europe is trying to make up for the lack of gas supplies of LNG from the United States. More than 20 tankers are already on the way, 33 more are ready for shipment.

According to the newspaper The Wall Street Journal, the US authorities held a series of negotiations with Japan, South Korea and other countries that paid for the supplies, with a request to redirect gas to Europe. The European Union also plans to agree on the supply of liquefied gas with Qatar and Azerbaijan.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and US President Joe Biden said in a joint statement that the US and EU are working to ensure regular gas supplies to Europe:

“The US and the EU are working together to ensure regular, sufficient and timely supplies of natural gas to the EU from a variety of sources around the world to avoid disruptions that could result from a future Russian invasion of Ukraine.”

Today, the US is the largest supplier of LNG to the EU countries. Australia, the world’s largest LNG exporter, is also ready to start deliveries to Europe.
