200 thousand citizens were left without social dividend

200 thousand low-income pensioners have lost a one-time social dividend benefit, which the authorities usually allocate to citizens at the end of the year.

According to the Labor Department’s announcement of forthcoming payments, the number poor recipients of the social dividend was cut by 200,000 people.

The € 250 benefit, which is expected to be paid on Wednesday, was originally intended for more than 800,000 retirees. However, yesterday’s announcement states that 634,000 people will receive it.

According to Alexis Mitropoulos, who spoke on the Open channel, people were struck off the list due to income exceeding the limit and other criteria. Some were deprived of 250 euros, because they did not qualify for income that exceeded the indicated amount by only 5 or 10 euros.

As our publication previously wrote, during December 2021, a social dividend is provided to such categories of citizens as low-income pensioners, uninsured elderly and disabled people receiving benefits from OPECA, and others.

As for the benefit for health workers, it will be issued only to the staff of first line hospitals, that is, those who come into contact with patients. To calculate the amount of the benefit, the same procedure will apply as in April 2020, when they received a “bonus” in the form of half their salary. Of course, medical workers temporarily suspended from work will not receive money.

Low-income pensioners with an income criterion of up to 7200 euros (net amount) will also receive a dividend.
