A fourth wave of Covid-19 infections in Greece is “imminent,” a health ministry official said Thursday, as the country grapples with a new rise in the number of cases.
Asked why the government recently lifted additional restrictions on health given the looming increase in the number of new cases, the secretary general of the Ministry of Health for Primary Health Care, Marios Themistocleous, said: “The economy, society must open up. Since the start of the week, health authorities have reported more than 3,000 new infections daily, with the National Public Health Organization (EODY) announcing 3,376 cases and 34 deaths on Thursday. The total number of infected people in Greece has exceeded 707,000, and the number of deaths has already exceeded 15,580 people.
