Athens police patrol has been strengthened

Citizens Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos announced the strengthening of patrols in Attica. As announced on 29/09, all police departments in Attica Prefecture will be reinforced with 1,026 officers. Of these, 306 are young police officers who graduated from a specialized academy, and 720 service employees will undergo training.

It is worth noting that the number of employees in the departments of the prefecture is 5,000 people less than their total number. The integration of new police officers and probationary workers into police departments will free up more experienced police officers with 100 additional patrols.

At the moment, 60 Αμεσης Δράσης (emergency response) patrols are on duty in Attica prefecture at night. From November 1, when the Theodoricakos plan is implemented, 160 vehicles will be patrolling the capital between 00:01 and 18:00: 60 immediate action vehicles and 100 ΕΛ.ΑΣ vehicles.

“Citizens are asking us to ensure their safety, which is why they are rightly demanding a much greater police presence in the districts,” said Mr Theodoricakos, explaining that “the additional staffing of police departments in the Attica Basin with 1,026 officers of both sexes will become operational. next Monday.

Yesterday, the new minister visited the Kallithea and P. Faliro police stations, which he is reinforcing with 25 and 20 new police officers, respectively, and in the next 24 hours he is expected to visit several more departments of the Athens Directorate, where a total of 320 police officers will be involved.

Of the newly graduated police officers, 50 will be sent to the Restoration of Order Sub-Directorate (YAT, formerly MAT), 20 to the Attica Traffic Authority and another 20 to the Immediate Response Call Center (known as the Police Call Number “100”).
