An incredible tragedy happened today in Patras – a car flew off the go-kart track and seriously injured a six-year-old.
The child, who watched the races, has head injuries, he is hospitalized in the children’s hospital and is in the intensive care unit. Doctors say the next 48 hours will be critical for him.
The event took place in the area of Georgiou Square. The car participating in the race lost control, drove off the track at high speed, destroyed the fence and collapsed onto it. In that place was the kid, who watched the competition with enthusiasm.
The doctors told the boy’s father that the MRI did not show an internal hematoma on his son’s head, which experts consider a positive point. But today the doctor does not undertake to give any predictions. Relatives, friends, acquaintances and simply not indifferent people gathered near the hospital. All of them pray for the baby’s health and hope for a favorable outcome.
Andreas Iliadis, director of the pediatric intensive care unit, is next to the victim from the first minute of the boy’s transfer to the PGNP unit.
