The data of the latest large-scale study in the United States, with the participation of 600,000 people from 13 regions, proved that the probability of death from coronavirus in unvaccinated people is an order of magnitude higher.
The Hill, with convincing numbers, cites research from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They found that unvaccinated people die from coronavirus 11 times more often than those who have completed a full course of immunization.
The study also found that people who ignore vaccinations are admitted to hospitals 10 times more often and 4.5 times more likely to become infected with covid. These figures provide compelling evidence that vaccines effectively protect against death and hospitalization.
But there is also a less optimistic conclusion. The work of researchers suggests that among the elderly population, the effectiveness of vaccines begins to decline. When examining patients in emergency departments and in hospitals in 9 states, this rate among people aged 75+ was only 76%, while among representatives of the age group 18-74 years old it reached 89%.
In the United States, 75% of adults have received at least one dose of the vaccine. However, the dynamics of the pandemic continues to be influenced by the proportion of the unvaccinated. The unvaccinated account for almost all hospitalizations and deaths.
