Not far from Nisyros there were 2 earthquakes with a power of more than 4 on the Richter scale with a difference of several hours.
The first tremor, according to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, was recorded on Saturday evening at 22:57, 26 kilometers south of the island. Its strength was 4.2 points on the Richter scale, the depth of the focus is estimated at 16.9 km.
A second magnitude 4.7 earthquake shook the sea off the island early Sunday morning at 02:25, according to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens. The epicenter was located 27 km south-southwest of Nisyros. No consequences were reported.
