American gynecologists spoke about the dangers of COVID-19 for pregnant women and urged all of them to be vaccinated.
The joint statement of the Society of Perinatal Medicine and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, as reported by RIA Novosti, contains a call for pregnant women, supported by the latest data on the safety of drugs for expectant mothers, which were obtained as a result of observations of tens of thousands of women in an interesting position.
At the same time, doctors warn of the increased danger of COVID-19 for pregnant women. Infection can lead to serious consequences and even death. To date, only one in five expectant mothers (22%) have been vaccinated in the United States. The statement reads:
While strongly recommending vaccination during pregnancy, both national organizations underline their concern about the significant increase in COVID-19 cases due to the delta strain.
Interestingly, a little earlier, these two organizations did not object to vaccination of pregnant women, but also refrained from direct appeals.
