Free vacation from OPECA

The application process for the Social Tourism Program of the Organization for Social Benefits and Solidarity (OPECA) begins today in Greece.

According to guidelines published by the Ministry of Labor, the time window for applying for the OPECA social tourism program, which opens today, will “close” on Tuesday June 15th.

The Social Tourism Program offers a six-day vacation to 53,500 beneficiaries. At the same time, it is noted that vouchers can be used from June 5, 2021 to May 30, 2022. The budget for the program is about 6 million euros.

An application for participation in the social tourism program (Κοινωνικού Τουρισμού του ΟΠΕΚΑ) can be submitted at KEP (Public Service Centers).

To apply for participation in KEP, you must provide:

Any document from which a social security registration number (AMKA) was obtained, including for protected family members (for example, a medical booklet or an AMKA certificate), where Αριθμός Μητρώου (ΑΜ) ΟΓΑ is indicated. Identification. In the case of OGA retirees with a disability (mental disorder), DOWN syndrome or cerebral palsy, a certificate of certification (for disability) or a decision of the medical commission is also required.

The following are eligible to participate in the OPECA social tourism program:

a) e-EFKA (OGA) pensioners and pensioners from an uninsured account of senior citizens, in accordance with Article 1 L.1296 / 1982.
b) insured e-EFKA (OGA) who as of December 31 of the previous year (2020) were aware of the application for participation.

Islands and subsidy amounts
OPECA subsidizes companies that provide tourist real estate (on the islands) for the residence of beneficiaries, program participants, in an amount equal to the amount of the corresponding subsidy and the financial participation of the beneficiaries in categories of accommodation in other directions.

The list of islands is as follows:

Λέσβος, Λήμνος, Άγιος Ευστράτιος, Σάμος, Ικαρία, Φούρνοι, Χίος, Οινούσσες, Ψαρά, Κως, Πάτμος, Ρόδος, Κάρπαθος, Κάσος, Λέρος, Κάλυμνος, Αστυπάλαια, Νίσυρος, Σύμη, Τήλος, Χάλκη, Λειψοί, Αγαθονήσι, Καστελόριζο.

Thus, beneficiaries who choose destinations to the aforementioned islands (without breakfast) will spend their vacation without any additional financial costs of living.
