A month after, statements athlete that he will vaccinate Covid-19 only if it becomes mandatory for tennis competitions, the third player in the world Stefanos Tsitsipas said he plans to be vaccinated at the end of 2021.
“It will definitely happen this year,” Tsitsipas said in an interview with the Greek TV channel Antenna TV.
When asked if he would be vaccinated so that he could return to normal social life, the 23-year-old athlete replied: “Yes, this is the main reason.”
Tsitsipas, who was the face of Greece’s Stay Home campaign last year at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, said he has never advocated or opposed vaccinations.
“I’m not a doctor; I’m a tennis player,” Tsitsipas said, “so perhaps I don’t have the most informed opinion when it comes to medical issues.”
