A 19-year-old Albanian man was caught red-handed by DIAS police in Kallithea today, who is accused of violent theft and threats and insults against robbery victims.
His accomplice, a foreigner, has also been identified and is being sought. Shortly before the arrest, the guy allegedly stole money from the cash register of one of the bakeries in Kallithea. Police said the DIAS immediate response team, who rushed to the scene, immobilized the suspect despite strong resistance.
During the investigation, it turned out that the young man and his accomplice since August 2020 committed thefts from apartments, houses, vehicles, offices and shops located in various districts of Athens, mainly in Paleo Faliro, Nea Smyrni and Kallithea.
At the moment, 5 cases of thefts from houses, 2 from cars and 1 case of theft from a store have been investigated. The detainee was taken to the Athens Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.
