In Ankara, two explosive devices were detonated near the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The attack took place on the day parliament began work. The head of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ali Erlikay, said that at about 09.30 two terrorists drove up in a car to the entrance gate of the Main Security Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and detonated bombs. One of them blew himself up, the second was shot. During the shootout, 2 police officers were slightly injured.
Authorities are calling the incident a terrorist attack. Many police, medical teams and firefighters were sent to the scene. The area is cordoned off, writes CNN. An investigation was launched by the Ankara Prosecutor General’s Office.
