Fines totaling €1,440,000 have been imposed by the Inter-Ministerial Market Enforcement Group (DIMEA) on three major chains selling electrical and electronic goods.
The inspections reportedly found that the merchants violated article 15 of Law 4177/2013 (as amended) and the application of the provision YA 35935/2023 of the “Code of Ethics regarding the announcement of a reduced price during the discount period.” In particular, the following are introduced:
- A fine of EUR 560,000 to Πλαίσιο COMPUTERS AEBE.
- A fine of 520,000 euros to the company PUBLIC RETAIL ΜΟΝ. Α.Ε”.
- A fine of 360,000 euros to Praktiker Hellas ΕΜΠΟΡΙΚΗ ΜΟΝ. A.E.”.
Development Minister Kostas Skrekas said: “After inspections of major electrical and electronics chains, we found violations exceeding 1.4 million euros. Misleading consumer behavior is unacceptable. I remind you that control will be strengthened. We will not tolerate any illegal actions that leave citizens unprotected and violate the laws of healthy competition.”
