Vaccinations of asylum seekers, refugees and migrants in camps on the islands and the mainland kicked off on Thursday, scheduled to take place twice a week.
Vaccinations at the reception centers of Kara-Tepe on the island of Lesvos, VIAL on Chios and Vati on Samos began on Thursday and will continue on Friday. It will be run by NPHO mobile offices on Thursdays and Fridays, and starting next week, subject to scheduling and availability of single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccines, vaccinations for asylum seekers will begin in Kos, Leros and 10 reception centers on the mainland.
According to the state TV company ERT, an information campaign in favor of vaccination was held at the VIAL center the day before. The VIAL management noted that a positive response was recorded, as people hope that vaccinations will also help them achieve their goals in the future.
Vaccinations in the camps were originally scheduled for mid-May, but were delayed due to delays in the supply of J&J single-dose vaccine.
